Roger Blackwell Receives Outstanding Educator Award
The Ohio State University chapter of The American Marketing Association
named Roger Blackwell as the outstanding professor of 2002 at its annual
banquet on February 20. In his acceptance speech, Blackwell told the
chapter about the many rewards he has received from teaching, and he
challenged attendees to find ways to reach out to others through teaching
and community involvement. |

Roger Blackwell Conducts Online Seminar for Sprint
Blackwell joined fellow presenters, Guy Kawasaki, Ken Blanchard, Gary
Hoover, and Watts Wacker to headline a series of online seminars sponsored
by Sprint. Advertised in major publications, including Business Week,
participants represented a vast spectrum of job titles, industries, and
countries. The seminar was delivered live via the Internet and
teleconference communication tools. With initial reactions in, it appears
that this delivery tool is a great compliment to other live seminar
programs.
Roger Blackwell Teaches MBA E-commerce Courses at Washington University
When Washington University needs an e-commerce expert to teach in its
executive MBA course, it turns to Roger Blackwell. In a 3-day, intensive
course, Blackwell lectured to executives from some of the leading Silicon
Valley firms about the challenges, opportunities, and commerce realities
of technology, CRM, and e-commerce.
October 2001
Blackwell Teaches First Online Business Course at The Fisher College
Roger Blackwell is teaching the first distance learning business course
through the Fisher College of Business. The class, which focuses on the
topics of e-commerce, is taught at the Lima, Marion, and Akron branch
campuses of The Ohio State University via the Internet. While there is a
class coordinator at each campus to administer tests and answer questions,
students are able to work through the materials at their own pace—where
they want and when they want. Students are able to move through nine
modules of information that combine written text and video of Roger
speaking to the students and lecturing in class. This course was developed
by the Fisher College of Business in conjunction with Kmi Online.

Why Webvan went Bust, an editorial written by Roger Blackwell, was
featured in the Manager’s Journal of The Wall Street Journal on Monday,
July 16, 2001. The article focuses on the reasons that Webvan went from
Internet start-up darling to Wall Street casualty and the lessons all
businesses can learn from its demise. (we’ll scan article and include it)
Customers Rule! hits #1 on Amazon
Shortly after its release, Customers Rule! ascended the popularity and
sales charts of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. Not only did the book hit
#1 on the Business & Investing and the Marketing & Sales Top Sellers
lists, it also hit #40 on the overall Amazon best seller list.

The Ohio State University Announces Plans for The Roger D. Blackwell
Inn at The Fisher College of Business
Roger Blackwell announced his $7,000,000 gift commitment to The
Fisher College yesterday. In recognition of his generosity, the
executive residence will be named The Roger D. Blackwell Inn at Fisher
College and be known as "The Blackwell." The University Board of Trustees
will formally approve this at its May meeting and the college will plan a
major event - a dedication and grand opening in the late Spring of 2002
when "The Blackwell" opens. This marks the largest single gift made to
the University by a current faculty member.
